Board of Directors

Literature for Life continues to thrive on the guidance and advisory of a dedicated team.

Katie Herbert: Chair

An avid reader, community advocate, and former management consultant, Katie is currently exploring new strategic growth opportunities at an executive healthcare clinic in downtown Toronto. Within her portfolio there, she gets most excited about the Mental Wellness and Coaching space to support individuals in many different facets of their lives.

Erik Arnold: Treasurer

Director at a leading Canadian independent business valuation consultancy and mid-market investment bank.

Mariane St. Maurice: Director, Brand and Fund Development

Mariane is Manager of Brand Culture at Dream Unlimited, and brings with her a strong background in non-profit management, community outreach and communications. Though she loves exploring the city, one of her favourite activities remains curling up with a good book.

Shaira Nanji: Director

Shaira is a corporate tax lawyer at Dentons Canada LLP. Shaira is an avid reader with a particular interest in Victorian literature. Her favourite book is Middlemarch by George Eliot.

Alicia Rose: Director

After getting hooked on Shel Silverstein poems at a young age, Alicia became a reader for life. As a social profit professional and arts advocate, Alicia enjoys challenging the status quo and pushing for shifts in social constructs, particularly around issues of inclusion. Since she isn’t able to travel as much as she’d like to, she uses books to explore other experiences and communities.

Jennifer Mannik: Secretary

Jennifer is a client relationship management associate at the Medcan Clinic in Toronto, and is also currently involved in Medcan Naweza, a humanitarian initiative in Kenya. She has experience in data analysis and visualization, project management and research. She enjoys reading a variety of books, especially non-fiction science, and takes part in a monthly book club.
