Olympic Gymnast to Partner with Literature for Life
October 25th, 2013

TORONTO, Ont. – Former Olympic gymnast Jessica Tudos will be attending Literature for Life’s Get Lit Halloween event on October 29th at the Monarch Tavern (12 Clinton Street in Toronto). Tudos has written a children’s book – Kika, the Upside Down Girl – and is raising funds to support this independent project. That’s good news for the foundation because for every $25 raised she will donate a signed copy to Literature for Life.  Tudos will attend the Get Lit event dressed as her character, Kika, and will acrobatically spring into gear.

Kika, the Upside Down Girl is about a girl who loves to be upside down despite the pressure she feels to be right side up which works very well with the program provided by Literature for Life.  To support Jessica’s book you can go to or post, tweet, share with your network and send your favourite Upside Down photos.

Literature for Life gives underprivileged young moms the tools they need to unleash their intellectual potential helping them discover the joy and empowering benefits of reading and learning.

The Halloween Party is October 29th

Join in on the bone-rattling fun by coming dressed up as your favourite literary character. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Carma and $1 for every Monarch spirit sold will be donated to Literature for Life. Doors open at 6pm.

About Literature for Life

Literature for Life is committed to helping underprivileged young moms across the Greater Toronto Area take full advantage of their potential through a love of reading and fostering a culture of learning. Through Women with Words, our weekly reading circle program, young moms meet with trained facilitators to read books that are relevant to their lives and engage in highly interactive discussions and writing tasks. As a result, young moms gain a renewed interest in reading and learning that is passed on to their children. To date, more than 2,000 moms have participated in our reading circles and more than 20,000 books have been distributed. To learn more about Literature for Life, visit us online at
