“One Pot, Many Stories” Special Event at Wind Up Bird Cafe
On May 29, 2015, Humewood House participants had the opportunity to learn about food as it relates to heritage at the Wind Up Bird Cafe. Sang Kim, owner, spoke to the women about his path to becoming a successful restauranteur, how our roots relate to our cooking, and the importance of meals as means of sharing. He also gave a cooking demo before serving everyone a delicious lunch.
This was all part of Literature for Life’s new food literacy program, “One Pot, Many Stories,” a workshop about the relationships we develop with food and how these relationships contribute to the individual, their family, their friends and their community.
Many thanks to Wind Up Bird Cafe and to Sang Kim for hosting us!

Sophie also designed the dress worn by host Erin Davis of CHFI, and Executive Director Jo Altilia’s dress was designed by past Reading Circle participant Huda Eldardiry.
